#run, run, run.
HP increased through the True Love's Kiss bond (source: Raven)She was running out of time. While Sapling still had troubles keeping track of just what was going on, she knew that a climax was coming... and this was no place to be when it did.
Close by, the dragon rose from its shackles, sending massive gusts of wind her way. Sapling saw Kensei bracing himself against the force of the gales, and hurried to do the same. She hunkered over best she could and protected her face with her shield.
Even though she was prepared for the wave to hit her, Sapling was knocked back and thrown off her feet as the dragon set off. She tumbled, rolled on the ground, and came back up on one knee. She threw a quick look around, noting that the dragon's takeoff had knocked the wind as well as the fighting spirit out of everyone present. The guards she had been engaging were slowly getting back on their feet, and while menacing glances were exchanged, no one seemed keen on killing one another for the time being.
Truth be told, she was glad that their fight had been interrupted. Sapling still wasn't sure which side to stand on, and even if this was a game, she'd rather not kill without a cause. Monsters were one thing, of course, but these were men, defending something, standing up for something. Better then to cut short their tussle and leave on, if not amicable, then at least a non-permanent note.
"Good show, lads." She gave the soldiers and Kensei a quick nod of approval, spun on her heel, and ran - unsure of where to go. Over the global channel, Sapling could hear the shouts of the same Beastman who'd rendered assistance from above earlier.
Douken: "Ally or enemy, retreat from the Fort or perish what remain
of your lives by the hands of the dragon! ... Hurry!
The dragon will fire soon!"
He has the right of it, she thought.
Get out or die. Seems simple enough. But how to make an exit? She picked up her pace and leaped onto a low brick wall nearby, and from there towards a stone building. Sapling grabbed the edge of the roof with one hand, pulling herself up and onto the top of the building. From there, she surveyed the area. Above, she spotted the Beastman, flying through the air. Calculating his trajectory in the air - which wasn't easy, what with the evasive actions he was taking - she soon saw where he was headed. The Chaos gate stood a few hundred metres away, shimmering with promise.
She had no wings to fly with, but at least that meant she would be less of a target. Jumping off the roof without hesitation, Sapling hit the ground and rolled, then immediately fell into a sprint.
I'd better bloody make it, after all this hassle.
She was running out of time.
