<VANCE FINIRALDI: GATE IN>
Ugh... Glad to be back. Letting myself be taken into the hospital was a terrible idea. Who makes their food?
Vance Finiraldi logged into the game, stretching as his avatar faded into the game world in the usual cascade of rings. It had been a bit of time since his journey into the Keel Mountains, and while he ultimately came through that incident awake and free from the unnatural headaches that had plagued him since his battle within the Twilight Server, the mental battle he had with Lanceor rendered Claude unconscious long enough that one of his neighbors noticed and had called for a welfare check on him. Unwilling to formulate some reasonable excuses on the spot, he instead let exhaustion take hold of him just as his landlord provided authorities access into his home. Several days of mandated hospital care and medical tests later, and he as only now just able to log back in, just barely lucky enough to have convinced the doctors that his ailing health was a result of his poor habits and dietary routine.
Well, well... it really does feel like I'm back in Sigma.
While Vance was around when New Fort Ouph evolved from a segmented field into Root Town-like area, he was only just now taking a good look at all the new structures that came to being when N'Doch became the city's core. The Crusader took a few steps away from the gate and into the main plaza, a rush of nostalgia hitting him as familiar sights from his time spent in R:1 came back to him in flashes. Though instead of players roaming about taking care of their daily business in-game, there were Elven NPC's roaming the paths and going about their daily lives, along with the PCs who were either veterans baffled over the sudden reappearance of an old Root Town or newbies curious about the unexplained area they've never been in before. All in all, Fort Ouph felt a lot more alive than it did back when it was an official Root Town.
Unfortunately, he wasn't visiting that day for leisure. Because Sheraton was so eager to kick him out once he woke up, Vance didn't get any clear answers regarding what had happened to him during and after he had woken up from his final battle with Lanceor. So he was seeking out and turning to the only other resident in The World he knew and trusted enough to at least give him some ideas: Aether. Wings bursting forth from his back, he quickly ascended into the air from the plaza and brought out his in-game map while looking at structures in the distance. And of course, there was one that quickly caught his eye and was also named in the map: the Watcher's Tower.
Good place to start, for obvious reasons...
Soaring at full speed, it only took him a minute to land upon the steps leading into the tower's entrance. Not immediately seeing anyone lingering outside, he gingerly opened the door, stopping midway only to hear the voices within the massive library it housed. Most he didn't recognize... save for one. As I thought... A sigh left his lips as he re-closed the door. He no longer wanted to step in there as is, but at the same time, he didn't want to be 'Nikolai' for a while, not after being caught so easily when he went along with Raven to Morrigu Barrow.
Maybe I should brave it anyway...? It does have his title, and I won't know for sure until I step in there. Where else would he be, though...?
