The response, likewise, is still in German.

You must not talk to a lot of people, then. Worry not, I'm sure you'll get a longer email one day. Until then, I'm a recordsetter!
It may help if I say that I'm half-British on my mother's side. Not only was I raised bilingual, but my parents have always encouraged me to broaden my horizons and see the world. I even went to Australia as an exchange student for my first year of high school.
Might've picked up some slang there along the way.
Still mad that Japan's thoroughly outdated nationality laws forced me to ditch my British citizenship. If they ever fix that little issue, I intend to resume my British citizenship. They don't allow dual citizenshps here, by birth, by marriage, or in any other way. If you're Japanese, you're Japanese only. It's thoroughly maddening!
The overworking issues are very much real in quite a few industries. The animation industry is one I've mentioned, but most office jobs are also risky. Glad I don't have to deal with that.
I didn't take you for a Lost Ground enthusiast, but I'll gladly accompany you on any such adventures! I wasn't expecting to meet someone with interests beyond the usual kill-level-kill-level in this game, and I'm rather pleased with this find.
My hope is that the full text of the poem survives somewhere within the game, or, at least, that we can find some of the missing fragments.
Perhaps we could be friends yet. You're tolerable.

Ah, a bilingual and bicultural home. That does explain it. If I recall correctly, many EU countries strongly encourage a “gap year” in between high school and university where a student travels and/or learns abroad. (Although, I suppose the UK is no longer part of EU. Nevertheless, I believe they still hold those cultural values.)
Germany's dual citizenship is limited as well, though not to same extent as Japan. One can only have a dual citizenship with another EU or Swiss country which I’m not fond of myself. Japan’s outlook is inarguably much worse.
What work do you do?
I wouldn’t say I’m a Lost Ground enthusiast – I hadn’t heard of them before your message. However, my curiosity is thoroughly piqued. Give a day and time and I’ll meet you there. Don’t worry about our timezone differences. As you know: I have no other obligations right now.
While you find me tolerable, I find you hilarious. I’m going to enjoy picking on you.

I see! I went from high school straight to a university in Tokyo - I wanted to get it all over and done with. Then I went back to my home city, where I still reside.
As for my work, as I said - I'm a famous author. Famous enough that I've no need for supplementary income - my work has paid for a nice beachside house and several other accoutrements. And also, a very nice Montblanc fountain pen that I have physically hurt people for trying to steal before, as one does. ^v^)b
I did do a brief stint translating manga for online publications before I got my first big break, however. My most prized possession from those years is an expensive rice cooker. It's been quite a few years, and I still haven't had to take it in for maintenance even once. It's my most stalwart friend, my most faithful companion. This rice cooker would be something I'd have passed down to my descendants were I to ever get any.
I'm gay and I'm not good with kids, though, so that's not fucking happening. LOL
Well, then I hope you enjoy trying to pick on me! I assure you, I'm not that easily offended by my lessers... and each heroic party needs the guy who's kind of annoying but then heroically sacrifices himself for the good of humanity the moment he becomes likeable, just so the audience gets punched directly in the sack, besides.
That would be you. <3

Hahaha, I thought I might get you with that work question but either you’re telling the truth or you saw through me. Either way, I’m impressed.
My… step father is a little funny with his special pen as well. It’s a miniature fountain pen that fits in his wallet. I’d like to say I understand but I don’t think I ever will.
Now the rice cooker I understand. ḇ̴̍ē̷͙f̸̲͌ö̷̺́r̴̨̃ẻ̵̘ ̷̬̈́ ̴̨̺͒̎̃͝m̷̯̔̅̐y̷̪͉̤͒̈ ̵̨̨̪̺̀̒͋ ̴̡̡̮̻̦̮̻̼̳̱͎̗́̿͂̾̒͂͠p̴̨̯̭̠̪̯̓͝ͅḁ̴̢̢̡͕̠̯͎͉̥̾́͊͒͜r̸̛͙̩̣͖̭̲̤͎̒̆̓͒́̉͛̊̕͝ͅͅṭ̴̨̛̼͕͗͒̈́̓̍̆͂n̴̝̱̖̰̖̙̫̍̂̇͊͋̇̆͛́̈́͘͝ę̵̡̰̲̘͈̱͚͇͎̝̲̌̍̀̈́̈́̕ͅr̸̘͈̯̿̐͗͑͌̓͆̐̈̚͘͝ moved in, my most used appliance was the rice cooker. I never considered maintenance, though. I threw them out when they broke down.
I also prefer the same sex, and was never really fond of children either. When I first met my son, I acted like a scared, bristled cat. Now he’s my favourite person. He’s just so cute! Even when he’s being a little shit. I’m glad I had that teenage accident.
I don’t know. “The guy who’s kind of annoying but then heroically sacrifices himself for the good of humanity” sounds like you. I don’t care for heroism or humanity. <3
