There are numerous kinds of events hosted on .hack//Infinity. They are classified into the following:
1. Site Wide Events
2. Dungeons
3. "The World" Events
4. Special Class Events

//SITE_WIDE_EVENTS
These events will come up in announcements and its information will be viewable from any board. They can be either OOC and not have anything to do with "The World"(ex. advertising contests) or be plot-related and affect all the players (ex. locking everyone within the game for a day).
//DUNGEONS
These are threads that are tagged with [Dungeon] next to the topic tittle and are usually hosted by an Admin, but regular players can ask for permission to host one too. A Dungeon is, in simple terms, a thread with a omniscient narrator and a flag-trigger system. The narrator tells the story until a certain point and then, typically, a set of actionable options is given for the player(s) involved int the dungeon to choose from, before the narrator carries on based on the player's decision. In this way, the story revolves around the choices made by the player(s). Here's an example:(Narrator: GM / Player: Reila)
The passageway seemed to stretch on forever, into a murky darkness from which nothing could be seen. A growl echoed through the tiny room, shaking the ground beneath Reila's feet. A golden chest blurred into view not three steps ahead of her as soon as the howl died. Beyond the box the corridor continued its way unto the endless darkness.
Flag Triggered!
- Open the chest...?
- Ignore the chest and move on to the end of the hall.
So based on which option Reila chose, the story could go in two different directions (or maybe the box will just teleport her that much faster to the end of the hall).
A Dungeon host is granted GOD-MODE powers, as they need to control the flow of the story (if you feel this power is being mishandled or overly-abused however, feel free to report it to the head admin, CC Corp).
Dungeons popup spontaneously, whenever an Admin has the time to run one. How to clear the Dungeon and the number of players that can participate are dictated by the host. Take note that some of these Dungeons may be capable of moving the site's plot forward.
*If you wish to host a Dungeon event, simply message a staff member! We'll need to see a rough outline of what you have in mind and confirm that you understand the rules and guidelines before granting permission.
//The_World_EVENTS
These events are carried in universe (in The World) like an ordinary MMORPG normally would, but are not plot-related. They are hosted by CC Corp and are purely for the enjoyment of the players and their characters. An Admin is the one in charge, but a threads are run by the players themselves (save for the special classes events), unlike Dungeons with a narrator, and the Admin will normally only intervene to control some boss npc and/or to give out prizes.//SPECIAL_CLASS_EVENT
This is the only way to acquire a special class (ie. a class not available to the general populace). A player must be lv.10+ to be able to participate and there is a set amount of participants that is specified at the time of the event. The event consists of two stages: a hide and seek game, and an adventure quest. But only one participant will be able to move on to the second stage. Here's how the process goes:
- First, there will be an announcement with a link to the special class event thread.
- An NPC will then appear in a unique CC Corp-generated area, which will be generated just for the event, and hide in it.
- Your job is to be the first to find the NPC and talk to it. Everyone who is participating will join the search in the same thread, but only the first one to find the NPC will get a follow-up adventure quest.
- After you find the NPC and are given the follow-up quest and key words for the area where the quest will take place, Admin will guide you (through storytelling) from then on to your destination!
In case of absences: There is a 3-day absence limit for posting in the Special Class events, unless a reason for absence has been posted somewhere. Failure to reply after 3 days in the event will be taken as if the player failed to complete the event.
*We have a one Special Class per member policy, so choose wisely which character you'd like to give the class to.
