Count watched the Special Classes dispose of the enemeis with absent interest, curiosity fighting the everconsuming apathy of an artist seeking and not finding inspiration. There was something distantly beautiful in Noblesse smashing the Vile Flower into the plant equivalent of gore and viscera, and something rather inspiring about Resin's swift and fluid catlike movements as she did to the bees what a predator would do to its prey. Save for, perhaps, the eating. Not even a beast player this feline in mannerisms would actually try to eat a monster.
... It wasn't possible to do so to begin with, was it?
Regardless, he sheathed his scythe, nodding at both the players in understanding. So, this Noblesse's skills had something to do with the emptiness of his HP bar - would he hit harder if he were to be more hurt? In that case, he needn't offer concerned words about his [Poisoned] status.
"Perhaps you'll get to show off further in," Count suggested to Resin while also getting his move on. "I hope your pet remains unharmed - I am uncertain as to whether being hurt plays into a pet's happiness at all, but I wouldn't be surprised if they remembered. This game's NPC AI seems fairly advanced."
He'd also been interested in exploring more of the field, considering his motivations behind Gating In to the field in the first place. While he wouldn't mind easy packs and an easier boss - hell, he didn't even know if he wanted to head all the way to the boss when he'd come to the field, though by now it seemed all but inevitable - he could see that his companions were a little more combat-minded than he was.
Count wouldn't be able to linger for hours. Not until they cleared the field, in any case.
Well, there's always the screenshot function.
As they walked further through the isolated valley, Count made sure to take some scenic screenshots of the scenery, the plum blossoms flying through the air, the towering mountains that would beg to be climbed if he wasn't pretty confident that it would take an unreasonable amount of time and effort.
He'd need wings to get anywhere.
As he turned to take a distant screenshot of the Temple in the far, far distance, upon a mountain in the centre of the valley, his view was suddenly blocked by a load of enemies appearing out of the nearby treetops. Eight of them, in fact, looking almost exactly the same, though their heights and builds varied very slightly. All of them men wearing vile-looking masks, wielding claws upon their hands. Aside from the clawed gauntlets and rudimentary hipguards and legguards, they looked largely unarmored.
Given Keres hadn't alerted them about this enemy pack, the martial artists were, most probably, a scripted encounter and had just spawned out of that tree upon the party reaching a specific trigger.
Not that Count had the presence of mind to think about that - he was frantically trying to get out of screenshot mode.
DEMON PATH MARTIAL ARTIST x8
LVL 23 HUMANOID
ELEMENT: NEUTRAL
"The Plum Blossom Cult's secret treasures are ours by right!" One of them called out, before launching himself directly at the poisoned Noblesse.
"The Plum Blossom Valley is ours by right!" Another one called out, launching himself at Resin.
"We, the Demon Cult, reign supreme!" A third one called out, rushing Count down.
The rest of them, too, uttered one-liners that sound fairly samey (actually, that one about the Plum Blossom Valley might've gotten repeated), and ran to attack the party, one after another.
Noblesse and Resin were being harassed by three martial artists each, and Count had to fend off only two - perhaps he was viewed as the least threatening, being the lowest-leveled of the three?
"That's rather impolite," Count curtly opined, barely managing to exit screenshot mode fast enough to
Repel his attackers and follow that up with a
Reaper's Dance, which, now that the two mobs were at mid-range, did quite a bit of damage.
Quite a bit, but not enough. These were humanoid enemies - far less flimsy than summoned bees, and with no elemental weaknesses, to boot.
Still, he Staggered them for long enough to take some distance. Whether his attack also caught the enemies surrounding Noblesse and Resin, he wasn't sure - he hadn't been paying attention. In fact, he still wasn't. Count had been taken slightly off-balance by being ripped out of screenshot nirvana, after all...
