Δ Root Town: Mac Anu
As luck would have it for Count, if he'd waited only a few more moments, Talebrook would stand again. Even if they weren't the
tallest avatar in the game, unlike Count with his cranked-to-the-max height, they were still fairly recognizable. Especially with the addition of the fluffy white-and-black wings they'd gotten a few levels ago now. Either way, they were standing just as Count approached, and smiled in greeting as Yū lowed softly.
"Not at all," they replied, using their staff to keep their pet grunty from marching up to Count. He let out a small noise of complaint, but didn't fight more than that.
"Oh, this is Yū, he doesn't count as part of the quest, so don't worry about him."Then again, they could have been waiting for hours and they'd still not let Count think they'd been inconvenienced. On the bright side, it had only been a handful of minutes.
"I did try that; they have a fair amount of health so I only heal a small portion--or they coded it to adjust the healing ratio to their health pool and only heal a certain percentage..." They paused a moment, realizing they were starting to go off into a tangent. Quickly, embarrassed, they quickly explained,
"Sorry. What I mean is, it's much more efficient if we just manage to keep the monsters away rather than try to repair the damage that gets done, but I can keep them up in a pinch." Healing them to full, though, was out of the question unless they wanted to dump their entire MP pool, plus more.
Despite Incubus and his... nerves? Talebrook smiled warmly at him.
"No problem at all, don't worry." Sending them both invites to their party, they they turned to the NPC waiting with a worried expression on their face, which continued to shift over to somewhere in the distance. They kept making comments clearly intended to draw players to them as the quest-initiator.
Having done this multiple times, Talebrook was tempted to just skip the dialogue--but after nearly pressing the button to advance as the farmer nervously greeted them, they remembered Count and Incubus were here for the first time. Right! It would be horribly rude to just skip ahead.
"H-hello!" the farmer greeted nervously, wringing his hands and looking over his herd.
"You must be the adventurers here to help protect my precious Grunties!" If he recognized Talebrook, he didn't make any mention of it, pointing out across the farm.
"They've been watching from there for days now, it's just a matter of time before they make their move!" And just as the farmer spoke, the backdrop of Mac Anu shifted, players outside of their party disappearing and several tiger-like shapes appearing on the nearby hill.
"Oh, no!" the farmer cried as the first wave of monsters began to charge their way toward the farm.
Talebrook readied their weapon. With the new level system in place, this would be a little more challenging than the last few times--but it should still be pretty easy overall. So long as they worked together. They sent their first spell, a simple
GiJuk Don, a wooden spear materializing in the air and striking one of the monsters. It took a neat chunk of health out of them, but wasn't enough to one-shot it.[attr="class","tale2-text"][newclass=".tale2-text b"]color:#5279a0; font-weight:bold;[/newclass][newclass=".tale2-text i"]color:#90a6bc; font-weight:italic;[/newclass]
